여자 대사제의 장막에 있는 무늬에는 어떤 의미가 있을까요?

 

 

여자 대사제 뒤를 가리고 있는 장막을 장식하고 있는 무늬는 종려나무와 석류입니다.

종려나무 잎은 기독교에서 예수가 예루살렘에 입성하는 것을 축하하는 것을 상징하기도 하는데, 그 이전 로마제국에서부터 종려나무 잎은 승리와 성공을 나타내는 상징으로 자주 이용되었다고 합니다.

석류는 수많은 알갱이가 가득 채워진 모양의 열매라 그런지 포도와 마찬가지로 풍요와 다산의 의미를 종종 나타냅니다. 바로 다음 카드인 여제의 옷에도 석류가 등장하죠.

어쩌면 진실을 가리고 있는 장막이 바로 우리 눈앞에 높인 성공 혹은 즉각적인 이익인지도 모르죠. 어쩌면 반대로 그러한 성공이나 풍요로움을 얻기 위해서 우리가 지금 해야 할 것이 무엇인가 생각해 보아야 할 시점이라는 것을 나타내는 건지도 모르겠네요.
